Cordless Stereo Headphones
There are all sorts of electronic devices that need some kind of headphones or headset to use effectively. The first thing that springs to mind in the personal music player or MP3 device. Most of these appliances are attached to the headphones via a wire, however some are truly wireless or cordless. This affords more flexibility when using the device.
Other appliances such as the computers, a sound system or TV my also have a need for cordless stereo headphones at times. You may even need a set of cordless headphones for use in your motorcycle helmet to listen to music or tied in with your cell phone. Whatever the reason, here is breakdown of some of the varieties of cordless stereo headphones.
Prices can range from close to $300 to as little as $19.99. The difference between the top end and low end is marked of course.
A $19.99 pair of cordless stereo headphones may be used on your computer. They will most likely come with a speaker. They may also be referred to as a headset. It allows you to talk to people using services such as Skype or when playing online games on Xbox 360 or other online games consoles. On these cheaper end products, sound reproduction is not a priority. They work and you can hear people clearly but that is about it. Cheap and functional.
The higher end cordless stereo headphones have far more attention to detail. They will reproduce a rich and true sound and are ideal for listening to music or watching movies. In terms of movies they can allow children to watch a movie in the company of adults, without disturbing the adults. Or if you share an apartment with other people, you can maintain your privacy and the peace if you want to watch a movie or listen to music loud.
Some of the features of these types of cordless headphone are a long range of functionality. They can be used upwards of 200 feet away. They can also work through walls or ceilings. So if you want to listen to a piece of music as you walk in and out of the house, they can fit this need. The frequency at which the sound waves are transmitted is also important. Some earphones transmit on infra red frequency so that other electronic devices will not interfere with the reproduction. You don’t want hissing or buzzing to interrupt Nessun Dorma whenever your cell phone goes off. Put the phone on vibrate and enjoy your music in peace.
The power source may be an issue for you too. Many if these devices use Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. These can be recharged but some people complain that they don’t last very long, especially if they have been heavily used in the past. The alternative power source of some devices is the plain old AA battery. These can last for a few days but will need to be replaced. If you use your cordless stereo headphones often then the AA power source option may prove to be expensive over time.
How the earphones sit on your head may also be important. There are head band earphones or wrap round earphones. The head band option fits over the top of the head and may be more comfortable but easier to displace. The wrap round option attaches to the back of the head. It is harder to dislodge, provided the ear pieces are firm or snug to the ears but not as comfortable as the head band option in my opinion.
