The Ear Force X41 is a quality headset created by Turtle Beach. It is basically a digital version of their popular X4 headset. The X41 is designed to be used primarily with an Xbox game console but it can also be used as a general pair of headphones for watching movies or TV or simply listening to music. The primary use of these headphones/headset are for playing games on your Xbox and communicating with other gamers through the Xbox live chat facility. Sound reproduction is said to be fantastic with  deep bass and sharp, crisp highs.

The headsets use Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. Whilst it is only virtual surround sound because there are only two speakers it is a vast improvement on plain old cordless stereo headphones. This will soon become apparent when you are playing a game. The sounds seem to be coming from the sides, in front or you or at the back. This improves your game playing experience and might even make you a better player.

The system is completely cordless. The headset is totally independent from the transmitter so you won’t get tangled up in wires when there are any tense moments in the game.

The X41 uses 2.4 ghz digital radio frequency transmission technology. So you won’t hear any buzzing or other interference when playing or watching a movie. It won’t drop out either, with people suggesting that the headset will receive signals up to 20 ft. away from the transmitter.

The headset itself is lightweight and comfortable to wear. For those that like to spend many hours playing their favorite games the headset shouldn’t become uncomfortable. There is even a synthetic mesh fabric on the ear cups so that the air can circulate and the ears or head doesn’t become sweaty.

Another plus point with this system is that it doesn’t require it’s own power supply. It plugs into the Xbox console with a supplied USB cable. The headset itself takes 2 standard AA batteries that fit into the right ear cup. Controls to adjust the volume can be found on the transmitter unit and on the ear cups.So you can adjust the volume independently of the base unit as they are headphones with volume control.

The microphone is fully adjustable and can even be detached if you just want to play the game or are using them to watch a movie of listen to music. When talking to others during gameplay there is a function known as chat boost that boosts the sound of the chatting over the various game noises (explosions and the like).
